What Linda’s students are saying
My favorite Bridge teacher
I like Linda’s use of language, which is precise and colourful and easy to remember. She also re-enforces each lesson with examples of hands and excellent follow-up notes. As a result, I enjoy learning, playing defense and being online with Linda Tuff, my favorite bridge teacher. From the beginning, she encouraged me to participate in tournaments — and the rest is history.

She’s the best
It’s been fun taking Bridge lessons online with Linda, especially during a period when getting together is difficult. Not only is she a very patient instructor of the game, she’s also very accommodating with everyone’s level of competency with technology! She has an easy and humorous way of explaining Bridge, and she builds our confidence while she builds on new skills. I have learned so many tools on playing the game from Linda’s instruction and the constructive notes and examples
she follows up with. She’s the best!

Clever teaching tricks
Linda approaches each lesson with calm and patience. Her voice is always reassuring, and she uses teaching tricks to help us remember things — like going “shopping” for winners. Clever! She also uses a step-by-step method which makes it easy to add to the concepts already covered. I enjoy the online version of lessons because it’s easier to focus. (Less distractions, plus winter road/weather issues are alleviated.) I find Linda’s teaching methods suit me and my Bridge ability is coming along in leaps and bounds!

Positive, progressive teaching style
Linda has a positive, progressive teaching style which demonstrates a high level of
knowledge about the subject matter. As well, her ability to teach adults of all ages,
with varying levels of knowledge/skills, is evident in how she manages the classes
and the positive outcomes which are achieved by students. Her style of teaching is very well suited to online learning. In both settings, Linda has the ability to instill a
level of confidence through knowledge, teaching skills, encouragement and personal interaction that produces results and enjoyment of the game.

Embracing the move online
Linda’s online teaching has been excellent and it’s so great to be able to continue
learning something we started in person. I have totally embraced the online learning challenge — always great to have new skills. Thanks so much, Linda!

Patient, smart, and amusing!
Since my first online lesson almost 12 months ago, I have not only learnt the
rudiments of this complex game, but also have enjoyed the journey. When I have felt
like an idiot, Linda has made me laugh and helped me understand whatever it was
that I struggled with. She is patient, smart, and amusing!

She makes complicated strategies seem easy
Linda is a very thorough teacher and uses Zoom and BBO very effectively so that
these online lessons are just as good as lessons in person. She is very skilled at
explaining the concepts of playing Bridge and giving us examples of how to apply
these concepts in our play. Linda is very encouraging and makes learning Bridge a
very enjoyable, addictive affair. She makes complicated strategies seem easy and
understandable. I would certainly recommend her for this award.

Warm personal interactions
Linda is one of the best teachers I have had the pleasure to work with. She has a
calm, supportive and affirming way of working with folks that makes everyone feel that they are doing well. She also has a way of teaching by layering — bit by bit you build a foundation of understanding. I have now had the pleasure of being taught by Linda online, and she hasn’t missed a beat — she still makes us all feel good, keeps us engaged and gets us excited about the game. While I always miss the in-person, this works so well that I was quite surprised. It still feels like a warm personal
interaction. I have had many teachers in many different fields over the years, and I
would put Linda at the top of my list!

Encouraging and illustrative teaching style
I was surprised at how much fun online Bridge actually is. Linda is especially
knowledgeable about her subject and is so patient, encouraging and illustrative in
her teaching style. She injects humour and humanity into her feedback and continuously reiterates the rules of the game and explains the reasoning for specific moves. Her willingness to illustrate concepts at any point through a game or
discussion demonstrates her openness to feedback and her ability to clarify and then immediately refocus. Linda is a terrific teacher, with patience galore and the great ability to introduce something new while continuing to reinforce the old.

She keep it fun!
Even though I prefer in- person play and instruction, Linda is adept at facilitating
teaching our classes effectively regardless of the delivery method. She is extremely
personable, knowledgeable and well-spoken. Her clear instruction is easy to listen
to, and she is inclusive as she explains the cards during play. She keeps it fun and
troubleshoots any little glitches we encounter in the cyber world.

A lifeline during the pandemic
Linda’s online teaching sessions have been a lifeline during the pandemic! Twice a week, I can see and hear my fellow players all while getting what feels like private lessons. Session topics are skill-appropriate and are presented with lots of example
practice hands. Despite Covid, I think I am getting better!

I have learned so much from Linda
I was never a person who played cards, but I thought it might be a great way to
meet people and keep my mind active during my retirement. Linda’s Monday night
lesson class became much more than just Bridge instruction. It became a social
event, as well! Linda has a way of making Bridge fun, with her ability to explain the
game in a very simple way. Although it is so much nicer to be able to play Bridge in
person at our club, I have continued to take lessons from Linda over the internet. I have learned so much from Linda, and I now love Bridge and look forward to being together again in person.
